Temporariness in refugee camps on the Thai-Burmese border
This research and book project examines the control of time and refugee futures in camps on the Thai-Burmese border.
I draw from an emerging body of research that examines the control over time as a way of asserting power and dominance. Using this optic, I consider 1) how governance over time and the future is produced in refugee camps on the Thai-Burmese border, 2) how multiple strands and layers of temporality imposed upon the camps and their residents are experienced and negotiated, and 3) how these are articulated and actualized through schooling and education in particular.
